Community Info

Carrigtwohill has a fantastic range of social and sporting events taking place in its catchment area. The proactive Community Council also offer a large selection of excellent services benefitting both young and old in the community. The Castlelake developers work closely with the Council in helping to build a stronger community spirit throughout the whole Carrigtwohill area.

The Community Centre 

The Community Centre is run by the Community Council and is available to everyone to use for a wide range of activities. The main hall can seat up to 250 people and is also used for indoor soccer, badminton etc. The Tullagreine room can seat up to 80 people while the Mulvany and Fota Rooms can each seat up to 30 people. A fully equipped kitchen is available with all rooms.

Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre

The Family Resource Centre in Carrigtwohill is managed by a voluntary Board of Management under the auspices of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. It has been in existence for the past seventeen years and emerged from the experiences of local members who recognized the need for the development of new supports for individuals and families.

Citizens Information Services - are available in the Resource Centre. This is a confidential service.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul: Meetings held in the resource centre at 7.30 p.m. on alternate Wednesdays.

Other Services and Programmes

Many excellent services are available at the family Resource Centre, among these are:

Active Aged - Trips to the theatre, excursions, coffee mornings. TuesdayClub. 

Ballet & Modern Dancing - Tuesdays 3.00 p.m. 5.45 p.m. at the Community Hall 

Comhaltas - Traditional Music classes - Tuesday 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at the Resource Centre Oral Irish - Primary School: Thursday 7.00 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. at the Resource Centre.

East Cork Amateur Radio Club (based at Lackabeha, three miles north of the village) and meets on Monday evenings at 7.30 p.m. Contact: Dave Moore 4883555 or 087 6290574 

Flower & Garden Club - All events are advertised in the Charlie Wilkin’s column of the Irish Examiner. New members always welcome. 

Girl Guides Ladybirds: 5-7 year olds Brownies: 7- 11 year olds Guides: 11-15 year olds 

Irish Dancing - Fridays 3.00 to 5.00 p.m. at the Community Hall. Also on Saturdays 12.00 to 1.00 p.m. 

Irish Red Cross -The Midleton/Carrigtwohill Branch meet on the second Monday of each month in Midleton Hospital. The Red Cross provides assistance to people who are sick, elderly or disabled in need. Trained members are involved in providing and teaching First Aid, supporting overseas appeals and community.

Meals on Wheels - Cook and deliver 15 meals per day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays all year round. Cooks and Drivers required once every six weeks. Cooks required for 2.5 hours and drivers for up to 1 hour. All volunteer helpers most welcome. 

Senior Citizens Widows and Widowers Social Club - Catering for the entertainment and social needs of 55 years and over and all Widows and Widowers. Socials held monthly. 

Set Dancing - Have fun while you while you exercise. Set dancing classes are held in the Community Hall every Thursday 8.30 - 10.30 p.m. 

Scouts -59th (Cork) Carrigtwohill. The Scouting programme contributes to the development of young people through fun, adventure and challenge.      Beavers: 6-7 year olds 7 to 8 p.m. In the Community Hall on Tuesdays      Cubs: 8- 10 year olds 7 to 8 p.m. In Glenmary Hall on Tuesdays             Scouts: 11-15 year olds 8 to 9 p.m. In the Community Hall on Tuesdays

Speech & Drama - Each Monday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Centre  Contact: Siobhan Hogan 4630929 Each Friday 3.30-5.30 p.m. at the Community Centre 

Youth Choir - On Thursdays 8 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. at the Resource Centre.

Folk Choir

Whist Club - On the first Saturday of each month at 8.30 p.m. in the Convent Hall.

CASA - CASA are seeking volunteers who have a few hours to spare on a monthly basis.
